Google is updating its search engine technology, code named “Caffeine”, which will be delivering some outstanding performance and improvements in accuracy.

If you have been following the ads run by Microsoft, which touts Bing’s refined search results, Google may change the rules once again.

According to Ben Parr’s excellent blog post on Mashable, the improvements that Google Caffeine will bring to the table are substantial. I suggest that you read the full article on Google Caffeine, by Ben Parr.

Your Website Rankings in Google Caffeine

I suggest that you test to see how your website ranks in the new Google search engine by using this link:

http://www2.sandbox.google.com/

Once you test your website in Google Caffeine and normal Google search, if you have some questions, ask away. Make sure you test a number of different search phrases in both engines.

The sandbox is design to show you how your SERPS will look in the new engine. So, I would test your top keyword phrases that you have been working to optimize and see if your websites are positioning differently.

You can see some testing I did with various phrases, just to give you an idea of how to create a chart. if you find that Caffeine drops your site from a key search phrase, you need to decide how to address that change.

Great article, thanks for helping us stay ahead of the curve! The sandbox is bit confusing though. What are the ramifications of the search results in http://www2.sandbox.google.com/? Which keywords should I be using to best test our rankings in Google Caffeine?
